What do they provide:
Refugee Education
Aprender supports various education projects and schools supporting refugee children around the world. Project 1 is an Early Years School in Beirut, Lebanon, who serve Syrian refugees and children from low income families. Using Zoom, the team were able to continue the training despite the large explosion that happened in Beirut in 2020 which directly affected the school, and the continuing economic and social collapse in Lebanon. The school has made huge progress and is about to launch a second school based on the model we helped to develop.

Aprender supports the Brazilian charity Casa Semente located in a large favela (shanty town) in Rio de Janeiro. Project 2 is a support school who care for the primary and early secondary age children's physical, emotional and mental health, and provide maths, language and science classes to boost children's learning. The children are traumatised due to the activity of drug gangs who are in-charge of the neighbourhood. The support school has made huge progress with the children. Since the project started, no girl has become pregnant, and no boy has joined a gang. They are amazing.

Aprender support a school in Western Zambia, training the senior management team and teachers, and helping to set up their first preschool. Project 3 is a primary school in Mongu, Zambia who serve the local town with areas of high poverty. With serious challenges for any school - large class sizes, very few resources, and intense heat, the school has made huge strides with its compelling vision and inspiring head teacher. They want to be the model that others follow.
